Subscription & Usage
See your organization’s plan, its limits and how much you’re using. All limits are enforced by the langctl API, so they apply equally to the dashboard, the CLI and CI.
Your Plan
Open Plan & Billing in the sidebar. The page shows which plan your organization is on, your current usage, and the available plans.
From the terminal:
langctl org plan # plan limits next to current usage Subscription Plans

Paid Plans
Paid plans are launching soon
Paid plans can’t be purchased in the dashboard yet. The plan cards on Plan & Billing show Join Waitlist. If you need higher limits now, or want an Enterprise plan, email support@langctl.com.
Usage
Plan & Billing shows your usage against each limit:
- Team members - Used of the plan’s seats
- Projects - Used of the plan’s projects
- Translation keys - With the per-project limit
- AI translations - Used this month, and the date the allowance resets
- API keys - Active keys
When a limit is reached, the dashboard shows it next to the action you tried (for example on the Projects or API Keys page), and the CLI exits with code 6.
Plan Limits Explained
Translation Key Limits
What counts:
- Each key counts as 1, regardless of how many languages it has
- Draft and published keys both count
- Deleted keys don’t count
Example:
Key: home.welcome
Translations: en, es, fr, de, ja (5 languages)
Count: 1 key (not 5)
The limit is per project. When a project reaches it, you can’t create or import new keys into it until you delete keys or move to a plan with a higher limit.
Project and Language Limits
- Projects you’ve deleted don’t count
- The language limit applies to each project separately
Team Member Limits
- Every member counts, including owners
- Pending invitations don’t take a seat until they’re accepted, but an invitation can’t be accepted while all seats are taken
API Key Limits
- Active API keys count
- Revoked keys don’t count
AI Translation Limits
- Each key translated into one language counts as one AI translation
- The allowance resets at the start of each calendar month
- Unused translations don’t roll over
- It’s a hard limit: AI translation pauses until the reset, there are no overage charges
- Each plan also has a monthly character allowance sized for typical UI strings (roughly 100 characters per translation)
Example:
Translating 10 keys to 3 languages = 30 translations
Bulk translating 100 keys to Spanish = 100 translations
Exports, pulls and pushes never count against the AI allowance.
Usage Optimization Tips
Reduce Key Count
- Remove test and debug keys
- Delete deprecated translations
- Consolidate duplicate keys
Manage Team Size
- Remove members who no longer need access
- Re-invite people when they need access again
Optimize AI Usage
- Make sure the default-language text is final before translating, so you don’t translate the same string twice
- Use Translate missing - it only fills empty translations and never re-translates existing ones
Enterprise Plan
Enterprise has custom limits. To discuss it, email support@langctl.com.
